Launch of Dalkey’s Defibrillator!

Launch of Dalkey CFR's Public Access DefibrillatorToday marked a very special occasion for Dalkey CFR volunteers as we launched our first Public Access Defibrillator in Dalkey village.

The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is located on the wall outside Ouzos Restaurant on Castle Street, Dalkey, and is available 24/7 in the case of an emergency.

The aim of this AED is to strengthen the Chain of Survival in Dalkey. When someone’s heart stops beating, every second counts!  Starting CPR early and using a defibrillator greatly increases the chances of that person surviving.

We had a fantastic turn out from the local community for the Official Launch today, with locals of all ages participating  in our CPR and defibrillator demonstrations.

We’d like to thank everyone who made this possible:

  • Padraic Hanley from Ouzos Restaurant for providing us with the fantastic location,
  • Our local sparky William McHugh from McHugh Electric for Mounting the AED and
  • All the members of the public who donated money to pay for the protective cabinet

IMG_9854If you missed out on our CPR Demos today get in touch with us. We’re happy to run Free CPR Demos at local events or provide formal CPR & Defibrillator Training at a reduced cost for local groups.

And of course, new volunteers are always welcome, you don’t need any previous experience, we’ll provide you with all the training you need!
