Congratulations to all the Marlay ParkRunners who took the time to learn CPR and Defibrillation. These life-saving skills are very easy to learn, but can be the difference between life and death! Thanks to Dalkey CFR Volunteers, Joe & Olwyn for facilitating the session!
This amazing group of runners pictured below were the pacers for the SSE Airtricity Dublin Half Marathon in the Phoenix Park today. They get an allowance from Dublin marathon for volunteering to pace and this morning they all decided to donate their money to Dalkey CFR! We would like to thank them all so much for their generosity; a fantastic €350 to help us continue our much needed volunteer work in the community.
Huge thank you to Rushe’s SuperValu in Dalkey for hosting us bag packing. It was fantastic to meet and chat to so many members of the local community. We were delighted to receive so much positive feedback and answer lots of questions about the First Responder Service we provide in Dalkey, Killiney, Glenageary & Sallynoggin.
Today marked a very special occasion for Dalkey CFR volunteers as we launched our first Public Access Defibrillator in Dalkey village.
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is located on the wall outside Ouzos Restaurant on Castle Street, Dalkey, and is available 24/7 in the case of an emergency.
The aim of this AED is to strengthen the Chain of Survival in Dalkey. When someone’s heart stops beating, every second counts! Starting CPR early and using a defibrillator greatly increases the chances of that person surviving.
We had a fantastic turn out from the local community for the Official Launch today, with locals of all ages participating in our CPR and defibrillator demonstrations.
We’d like to thank everyone who made this possible:
Padraic Hanley from Ouzos Restaurant for providing us with the fantastic location,
Our local sparky William McHugh from McHugh Electric for Mounting the AED and
All the members of the public who donated money to pay for the protective cabinet
If you missed out on our CPR Demos today get in touch with us. We’re happy to run Free CPR Demos at local events or provide formal CPR & Defibrillator Training at a reduced cost for local groups.
And of course, new volunteers are always welcome, you don’t need any previous experience, we’ll provide you with all the training you need!
Dalkey CFR are delighted to invite you to the unveiling of a new Public Access Defibrillator in Dalkey this Saturday, 21st May at 1pm.
This Automated External Defibrillator (AED) signifies a massive step in strengthening the Chain of Survival in Dalkey. When someone’s heart stops beating, every second counts! Starting CPR early and using a defibrillator greatly increases the chances of that person surviving.
We are mounting Dalkey’s first Public Access Defibrillator on Dalkey Main Street, this coming Saturday and we need your help in spreading the word.
The AED will be mounted outside Ouzo’s Restaurant and will be freely available for use by members of the public and first responders in the event of a cardiac arrest in the town.
We will be holding demonstrations on CPR & how to use the AED throughout the day and would love to see you all there.
